The following education tip provides inspiration to write Chapter 'Internationalization'  of the Faculty Monitor. If applicable, separate suggestions are given for the PLAN and the DO.

Plan

The faculty internationalisation policy plan is in line with Ghent University’s vision and is attuned to the objectives as formulated in the Integrated Internationalisation Policy Plan. In cooperation with the International Relations Office, the faculty supports and stimulates the integration of various forms of internationalisation in its study programmes.

Examples: 

• the faculty pursues an internationalisation policy plan defining its vision and policy actions (e.g.  faculty internationalisation projects, Internationalisation@Home initiatives, facilitation and maximisation of student and staff mobility);
• the faculty has a Faculty Committee for Internationalisation (FCI) that monitors the execution of and possible  adjustments to the Internationalisation Policy Plan;
• the faculty guarantees a continuous representation in university-wide working groups concerning internationalisation, development cooperation, etc;

• various institutionally coordinated initiatives are designed to facilitate internationalisation and offer faculties opportunities to develop an internationalisation policy. Take for instance the regional platforms (for Africa, China, Russia), and the international partnerships in which Ghent University is involved (e.g. U4, SantanderGroup),

• the faculty participates in international partnerships;
• the faculty stimulates Internationalisation@Home by taking faculty-wide initiatives, like e.g. an ‘international week’, international seminars or workshops, lectures by international experts and/or by international colleagues involved in faculty research projects;
• the faculty stimulates and facilitates staff mobility;
• the faculty stimulates international staff training. There are European programmes (Erasmus+, Erasmus Mundus) that offer training modules in which members of staff can participate. Through the Faculty Internationalisation Committee there is funding to support this type of mobility.
